SENT Topeka runs several impactful programs designed to meet the diverse needs of the community. One of its primary focuses is education, providing affordable, high-quality early childhood education through SENT Prep Academy. Additionally, SENT offers workforce development services, including job training and career counseling, to help individuals achieve financial independence. The organization addresses food insecurity with initiatives like the Hi-Crest Market, a monthly farmers’ market and resource fair, and the Southside Filling Station, a weekly food pantry. These programs are crucial in empowering residents and ensuring that essential needs like education, employment, and food access are met in the Hi-Crest area and beyond.

In addition to its educational and food security programs, SENT Topeka is dedicated to neighborhood revitalization and community engagement. The organization works to enhance the physical appearance of the Hi-Crest area through cleanup efforts, beautification projects, and homeownership assistance. SENT’s efforts also include economic development support, such as mentoring local entrepreneurs and fostering small business growth. While the organization previously ran the impactful Youth Court program, it now concentrates its efforts on the JYA program and community engagement initiatives.

Established in 1980, ETSC provides vital services that promote independence, wellness, and social connection for seniors in a welcoming and supportive environment.

The center offers a wide range of programs including door-to-door transportation for medical appointments, shopping, and social outings; daily congregate meals through Meals on Wheels; and emergency food assistance. In addition to nutritional support, ETSC hosts recreational activities such as arts and crafts, exercise classes, music, games, and special events that keep members active and engaged.

Health and wellness are a priority, with regular screenings, medication reviews, and educational presentations on topics important to aging adults. Monthly informational meetings and partnerships with organizations such as Angel Home Health, Midland Care, and the Jayhawk Area Agency on Aging provide valuable resources to the community.

ETSC services are available to individuals 60 and older, their spouses, and adults with disabilities. While there is no charge for participation, voluntary donations are welcome and help sustain the center’s programs.

Jayhawk Area Agency is dedicated to helping older adults in Shawnee, Jefferson, and Douglas counties maintain independence and quality of life. Since 1976, JAAA has provided vital services that support aging adults, caregivers, and the broader community. Through comprehensive resources, expert guidance, and personalized assistance, JAAA ensures seniors receive the care they need to thrive at home and beyond.

Comprehensive Services for Aging Adults

JAAA offers a wide range of services designed to meet the diverse needs of older adults. Their nutrition programs, including CHAMPSS Meals and the Kansas Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (KSFMNP), provide seniors with accessible, nutritious food options. In-home services help individuals remain in familiar surroundings, while other essential programs ensure seniors receive support tailored to their specific circumstances.
