Urban League of Kansas

The Urban League of Kansas, Inc. (ULK) is a local affiliate of the National Urban League that has served the Wichita community since 1954. Its mission is to facilitate economic self-reliance and improved quality of life through education, empowerment, and self-respect.

• Career & Workforce: Offers job training, placement services, career coaching, and seminars to help individuals enter and advance in the workforce.
• Safe Stable Housing: Assists low-to-moderate-income individuals with housing education, financial literacy, and resources for affordable living.
• Education: Ensures students have equitable access to education from pre-K through college.
• Strengthening Families: Operates a Family Resource Center providing parenting support, child development resources, and peer-to-peer connections.
• Youth Empowerment: Provides skills and opportunities for youth to positively impact their communities.
• Financial Literacy: Focuses on budgeting, credit repair, and investing to help build generational wealth. 

• Energy Assistance: Offers in-person help with Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) applications (e.g., sessions held in early 2026).
• Digital Literacy: Free training sessions that may include laptop check-out eligibility upon completion.
• Health & Wellness: Community pop-ups providing free “QuitKits” for those looking to stop smoking or vaping.
• Food Assistance: Partners with the Kansas Food Bank for mobile drive-thru fresh produce distributions. 

• Leadership: Cindy Miles currently serves as the President & CEO.
• Accessibility: Features a wheelchair-accessible entrance and parking lot.
